Hey - I can see my house from here!
no way. jimi isn't a rap artist. since when did rapers play their own instuments? if anything, it was just experimental.
If you're going to give credit to Hendrix, then you have to credit Bob Dylan too. Jimi was HEAVILY influenced by Dylan's lyrical style.
"Castles Made of Sand" IS fucking awesome. I love that backwards guitar solo!

JIMI is nice! &
"Castles Made of Sand" is a HOT joint like all the other stuff he's droped.
Rap is, at its core Spoken word performed to a beat. i guess this had to have been the earliest form of music as all you need is a voice & something to bang a beat out on....
remember them Beatniks? their a precursor like alot of other stuff. I guess my point is that rap is one of the most raw forms of musical expression, so you can hear alot of it in other styles & vice versa.
Also Lulu most live rap these days is accompanied with "Live" instruments, and the fact that a Turntable is also considered by many to be a instrument in the hands of an accomplished "Turntablist" is a sep. topic too involved to broach here...
I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out
in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom
of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.
Not a problem, I am here to educate. Now if I only knew something.
i'm betting you know more than i do.

i never knew the turntable was an insturiment. i always thought it was more of a record player than an instruiment. and i have seen some rapers with back-up bands. like jay-z on that unpluged.
and i shall still state that i know absolutely nothing about rap. but i would like to thank you guys for trying to educate me on the matter.

I'm always glad when people talk Jimi. I brought up the point while listening to the song, of course its not rap. But it has its similarities and just shows how far ahead of the curve this guy was.
