Today, the sun will shine a little brighter, the grass will be a little greener, and life will be a little sweeter. You see, it's Opening Day for the 2002 Major League Baseball season, and it still holds the same magic for me that it did when I was a kid.

I'm a huge sports fan, and a true hockey fanatic, yet there's something special about baseball. I don't know if it's the fact that it's our National Pasttime, or that it's the game most of us grew up playing and learning from our fathers, but the game's sheer poetry and beauty seems to transcend all others just a bit.

Damn, now I feel like blowing off work and heading to Shea!

Someone really needs to explain to me how I can spend time with a guy for like 5 months now and just find out today that he's a Mets fan? :( Damn....I know no guy is perfect but he was so damn close...this sucks. I can't be with a Mets fan :(

Just got back from the mets home opener. What a great day. Its was hella windy but the mets played a great game.

Even though we waited at least 15 mins to get in the place and waited longer for food. I was more than thrilled to a part of the start of the Mets 40th season.

A some things to note. Art Garfunkel sung God Bless America and Bloomberg threw out the first ball.

it's a long season, my friend. 1 game down, 161 to go. Remember, the Yanks lost their first three games in '98, and look what happened then....

Opening day always good... man was it windy that day... lines sucked.. mets were awsome...

Irishkb, you lucky . .. Opening Day is what life's all about. I called sick & hit Shea around 11:30. Couldn't score any tickets. And a beautiful sunny day, too. Instead had to listen to it on the radio.

Watch out for those Mets.
