Ok who built them when they were younger? I remember building this little fort in my backyard that was built out of flatboards stood up supported by these pipes in the ground, anyways I never had room to stand but my friends and I were so dumb back then, we used to light anything and everything on fire!
The second fort that my freinds and I built was underground!! WE decided it would be a good idea to take over this property with a so called abondonded hosue, dig up the back yard and build and underground fort. It was a great idea until the guy who owned the house came back and saw us digging up his backyard. When my folks found out what I was doing, they made me go back with my freinds and cave in the underground fort we worked so hard to build

In vino veritas

There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man.

My friends and I did. One was underground then we attached two "above-ground" forts.

As we got older the forts evolved from places to play "army" to places to drink beer and smoke butts.

My father and I built a fort in our backyard out of left-over picket-fence. It was sweet.

My family alwas use to liek to use alot of wood we just would nail it to a tree and make a floor then slowly make it in to a lttle house tipe thing we would just burn stuff in it un

andother fort we almost bunr down cause we were playign with fier and we put gass on the fire and it got to big

there was this thing a bunch of the kids made from a tree that was nocked over ina tornado 6 peices of wood and liek 5000 nails we woul just hammeing in nails when ever it could hold 5 kids in side but it was just a stupid little place

best forts are in side Chair tent forts with sheets as roofs even though a bad thing happend to me in on once but i til like them i sorta sleep in one so so so good times

i've got a great fort story. my friends and i built a fort about 15 feet up in a tree. wasn't much just basically some platforms. well this was around the time we learned about those adventure places you would go to with your class and they had stuff like the giant ladder and the zip line. so we decided to make our own zip line out of rope. it was probably about 50-75 feet long from the top of the fort out and down to the ground. we used a lock and a little piece of rope for the slider and the handle. well after about 5 successful runs i took of again and immediately the rope broke and i came slamming down to the ground on my back. i passed out for about a minute. when i came to most of my friends were laughing their asses off. KIDS. so i had to have two of my friends help me home like you see the football players being helped of the field. my parents were in the city for the day so i hoped i could just lay down for a while and get better. that didn't happen i had to have a neighbor drive me to the emergency room after i started throwing up violently. here's the worst part i was maybe 12 or 13 and when i was in the hospital for the night i had to have a digital examination for internal bleeding. EMBARASSING. well thanks for reading.

My friends and I built this great fort on the side of a hill that went down to a brook. Two rooms, one had 6 bunks and the other was empty. It was like a 1/2 mile back through the field from a bar [Millers Tavern, Annandale,NJ] and we would go to the bar 1st to get someone to buy us beer. Then hike to the fort and keep our beer in this little spring that ran down the hill into the brook. It was so cool, the times we spent there.

thanks ag, great memories.

my friends had a great fort it had two floors and electricity, and eventually we dug out the basement by hand. we had lights and stereo and a kerosene heater that we all smelled like by the end of the night. only problem we were 18 and it was more like a crack house where we all smoked weed and got drunk. <P>

Never really got into building forts ...What we would do is find a few tree near a river(this was in south Florida) that we could make a rope swing....Build a platform to jump off of swing out and let go then land in water....
Only down fall was you had to get out of the water pretty quickly .....Gators
never had a incident, I think the splash scared them......

LOL
Sorry for your misfortune at such a young age but damn that was funny. We built a fort out've a Ford Pinto. No lie it was abandoned at a gas station by my house in Jackson Heights at the time. The sanitation dept. would put orange stickers on these cars and when we saw the sticker on this Pinto we adopted it. Miss that car.
