after the confession, there is a period of discomfort when you see eachother, then you talk to them, they get the wrong impression, then they will hopefully get the right idea, and eventually, if you are really good friends, things work out, they find someone else, and you all move on.

yeah i've been through this a few time :P
and this is a disclaimer: this has been my experiance with this situation, results might differ due to people participating. this poster cannot be held responsible for others actions...
...just covering my ass, hope it works out for ya hun

my bestest friend throughout high school had a crush on me for years and it was really weird and ii just kinda had to pretend i had no idea and that worked. you deal with the immediate cofronatation and then you kinda act like it never happened so you both kinda save face.. i dunno if thats you situation but it worked for me ..

as i have had this problem once and was on the recieving end of the rejection i would say the best way to do is to ignore it. if you confront it or try to patronize the person your only going to makes things worse.

Classic situation. Girls really believe that guys really want to be just friends the way girls do. It's not your fault, it's natural for the guy to have feelings for the girl friend. But there was a lesson learned: the guy ALWAYS wants to bang the girl. Unless she's ugly, LOL.

Unfortunately it's a tough situation...he's already told you, so that puts it right out in the open...the thing to do is nip it in the bud now, let him know as soon as possible that you only think of him as a friend...be quick and be direct, no pussyfooting around it...the more you drag it on the worse it's going to be, and the worse the reaction you'll face.

This happened to a close female friend of mine. She didn't know what to say either just never speak of it. I think people do it cause there is some small hope that the girl/guy will say, yes I feel the same way. I've also had female friends that after a while I started having feelings for. I told them my feelings to make myself feel better but it messed up the relationship for a while. Maybe it's just best to not say anything until you are pretty sure she feels the same way, that is if you don't want to lose that friendship.

I agree with mrbungle. If he's already told you (if that's the situation), then let him know right away those aren't your feelings and you enjoy the friendship as it is. Of course tact is always good.

I guess this means he's deep in the "friend zone".

You should be real to him and tell him nicely that you want him as a friend and not a lover. (Although not in those exact words.)

There was a girl who i had a crush on last year when i went away to school before transfering back home. I told her I had a crush on her, but she told me straight up that she wanted to be friends. So i accepted that.

It will only make things worse if you fabricate things are play guessing games.

I suggest you get really really drunk and come within inches of having sex and then feel all weird the next day... but things tend to normal out after that..

at least thats what I did.

Mr. Bungle is perfect on this one, it's cruel to leave him hangin. Let him know asap,
that's the only fair thing you can do. If he can't handle it that's not your problem, but be fair, it's all
you can do.

I agree with Mr. B and Sloan. If you don't let the person know immediately, then everything you do is going to be analyzed and dissected. Better to be honest and still have a solid friendship than to inflict any hurt or confusion to the both of you.
