Although I wasn't a grunt in Viet Nam=I was a rescue diver for the pilots that had to bail out!

I have many friends that were in the army and marines that saw combsat and who were hurt

This is one of the best movies of the era!

we watched it in high school. I liike that movie cause i learned how shotguns got there name and how they came from. They would blow smoke down the barrel of a shotgun to someone else. damn cool

war movies are great and very powerful, vietnam movies are important in my opinion for unfortunately all the veterans in vietnam never really got any appreciation till if i can remember desert storm that is when alot of people gave more respect to the vietnam vets and realized they were never really welcomed home.... unfortunately alot of veterans of all wars have emotional scars and in time they sometimes dont heal. but its also ironic how many of the people after 9/11 who wanted to be the first back in were alot of veterens cause they wanted to fight for the couuntry again and did not want the new kids to go thru the hell and heartache and emotional trauma that vets went through. I agree platoon was a very good movie alot of war films make you realize all though it was hollywood they still could never match up to the actual horror and ordeal that combat is,

Great movie, but it had a lot of anti American B.S. woven throughout the story.

I prefer Full Metal Jacket, when I want to watch a movie depicting Vietnam.
