Does anyone out there have back pain?

I started playing roller hockey and my back feels like Mr. Ed is performing the Riverdance to the beat of a Korn song on my lower back.

I think it may be time to call the chiropractor and buy some Geritol. Getting older sucks!

No no no shorty!....i had the same problem..its only a small problem. The back hurts cause....your sitting at your computer most of your time and excersizing less.

Take a 20 min walk a couple times a week...and put down the forty ounce

Man, you leave the door open, and all these young punks just walk right in! This forum is for us senior citizens, Rooster (you too, Erin), so don't make me lock the door and check ID's!

Seriously, though, hockey is a sport that is played in a very unnatural position. You play the entire game in a hunched over position, all the while absorbing hits to the body. Odds are, you're just a little bit rusty and after a few games under your belt, the pain will disappear.

If it doesn't, consider yourself an honorary "old timer."

Rooster, I think erinmoran's probably right. I first threw my back out when I was 20. I've gone to three chiropractors, (my best friend is one), and I never got more than temporary relief. A few years ago I got the Mr. Ed Riverdance, (looking awful in the glittery green leotard), and was sent to a physical therapist. He said he had the same problem that you have. He liked to play roller hockey, but if he didn't keep up the strength in his abs and quads he'd see Ed. Also, most people get back pain from sitting, truck drivers and internet junkies. Apparently sitting in a chair unnatural, and puts your spine in a strained position, (as opposed to squatting like a chimp or a Maori tribesman? I don't know.)

So it's all about the situps, and, like the phyiscal therapist did, take 3 Advil before you play, adn ice the back after the game. I'm just sticking with the Geritol and yelling at the kids to... GET OFF MY LAWN YOU LITTLE BASTARDS!

pushing 40 but luckily one incident with back pain...
2 or 3 years ago I was shoveling snow, I had extreme pain in my lower back. I went about 10-15 minutes but could not continue...
I went in and put on my thick leather Everlast weight belt, I shoveled for the next 2 to 2 1/2 hours straight without the slight bit of pain...
wish i knew exactly what the weight belt did other than the obvious, providing support, but such a dramatic difference...
I have to tell people...
i've shoveled snow since then but have never experienced that pain again...

I can't remember a day after I was 22 I haven't had back or neck pain. A chiropractor helped for a bit, but it's always there. I even tried acupuncture once, but it put all the pain on the left side, over to the right side, and I couldn't feel three fingers on my right hand for like 3 days.

There's an opening at the senior center. I could pull a few strings and get you in, if you'd like. The boiled chicken lunch is GREAT!
