View Full Version : They used to rock
Is it me or have you noticed that some bands these days dont rock like they used to. Just about everything has gone alternative. Take for example Staind. I remember hearing the album Dysfunction that fucking ROCKED, now look at them, all the songs they play on the radio, the lead singer Aaron Lewis whines, and it SUCKS! Now look at the band Areosmith, a band thats been there since the 70's, they too have gone soft, but something about them I can still like. What I dont know.I think its the fact that bands have to keep up with the times.
What are some bands that you think went soft??

There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man.

ag, every band goes soft. i dunno if its the nature of progessing musically or just growing old. Maybe it's just
the nature of progression.
maybe its a who jumped the shark thing.

there is probably a better chance of one dying or going deaf before the stones "go soft".

incubus(although they were never really heavy)
Incubus was heavy as shit on the ep and "S.C.I.E.N.C.E." and then they pussed out hard...which disappointed the hell out of me, I thought they were going to be the band to take over for Faith No More...but I was wrong...
Aerosmith didn't as much puss out as get old...and they were semi-good at their best anyways...as soon as the original lineup went bye bye the first time, there hasn't been much really good.
What happens is simple...a band gets a small taste of success...and there are desicions to be made...do you appease your new fans who liked your one single and risk losing all your momentum, or go on as always and retain your hardcore audience...too many bands pick the new fans first, and that's why they suck.
System of a Down chose their own path...Slipknot actually got heavier...Pearl Jam decided to go on their terms, and thank god, as their new material is the only good stuff coming from the days of grunge <with the exception of half of the Foo Fighters stuff>. It can be done, but few have the balls to go with it.

Back when they were the Shrinky Dinks, Sugar Ray used to rock. Now they can be on the gayest song list.
Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

The album before the one that had "Fly" on it was much much harder than anything they put out recently. From what I've been told though, they make hard rock albums and one or two radio friendly songs. The radio friendly SUgar Ray is all that gets played on the radio of course.

Grand Funk,
not sure if anyone saw their "Behind The Music"
Shea Stadium - Sold out in 72 hours...
Beatles Concert took 6 or 7 weeks...
(I Love The Beatles as well)
They were going to stop the concert because the engineers thought the Stadium may come down...
the filmage showed the stands bouncing up and down...
