and i don't mean the C bomb ;)

there has been alot of talk about the Bush administration and defense department using nuclear weapons on countries who chose to terrorize the United States. now first off i'm not against this, besides from the oil in saudi arabia the middle east is pretty much useless. but if Bush decides to push "the shiney red button" he will go down in history as the first guy to use nuclear weapons in such a large scale attack.

and today Bush was quoted in the Associated Press to say :President Bush said Wednesday his administration has "all options on the table" as the Pentagon reworks its nuclear weapons policy to deter any attack on America - including from non-nuclear states such as Iraq and Iran. The U.S. nuclear arsenal is "a way to say to people who would harm America: 'Don't do it,'" Bush said. "We've got all options on the table because we want to make it very clear to nations that you will not threaten the United States or use weapons of mass destruction against us or our allies or friends."

so i guess all this leads up to a very simple question i should have put up as a poll, does anyone else think Bush would go for it? and is anyone here against it at this point?

Not to nitpick or anything, but what about Truman in 1945?

I'm looking down your blouse right now and you don't even know it.

I truly think Bush saying "We're keeping all of our military options open" is mainly to let Iraq and these other insidious nations know that we're not fooling around.

Hopefully they'll think twice before standing in our way.

i don't think he'll use the bomb.
that would be a huge escalation
of force.

Nuclear bomb james, not atomic, Truman had the A-bomb. thought both are very destructive but atomic power has nothing on the good old Nuke

nope, he would be the third guy(if you include Truman)
He would be the "current" second guy only if someone drops one on us first...

if somebody else dropped one on one of our allies or even someone we're not necessarily close to, he would probably not retaliate with a bomb unless the aggressor was going to continue to drop them...

tough call because how would you know if they were going to drop another...

Brodie,

As you can see I am not the well schooled Weapons expert...

hey, i used to use nuclear instead of nucular, somebody straightened me out on that one too...

thanks for the clarification...

but with that said i would still consider what Truman did and what may be done today as the same thing, just a different type weapon... most people say that Truman was the one that "dropped the bomb" and i'm sure they will say the same for whoever drops a nuke today...

PEACE

Id be very very scared if Bush did drop "the bomb" in another country, to think that everything has come to this. I hope that our ground troops or our Navy can take care of the situation.

There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man.
