Most of you cats really rip into the WWF. for the most part many of you talk about how things were better in the old days, wrestlemania wil be dissapointing, raw sucks every week....
do you guys really think it's that bad? i LOVE wrestling now. i realize how different things are now and there are things they can do a lot better... but why so critical?
these guys never get a break, they have to write new material all the time, adapting to the fans, the times, injuries, and superstar personalities. I think they do a fantastic job considering their situation and I will never stop watching.
i understand a little constuctive criticism, but hearing some of you guys opinions i'm just wondering why you just don't give up on wrestling. no matter how much my week sucks i'll always have wrestling, ron and fez, and this board.
and although i'll continue to hate kevin nash and hate how they put jericho with a dog the week before wrestlemania, i will still be there every monday, thursday, and one sunday a month cheering go jericho go.

I think that this board definatly does rip into the WWF too much, but on the other hand we all are a little disappointed at how badly they have treated to of the greatest angles ever. I just think people are a little pissed about that, once they get over it the WWF bashing will stop.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

I'm very vocal, but there are many fans on the net who complain about the WWF.I think the main reason that the WWF is getting slammed so hard is because there is literally nothing else out there to watch. If you're fortunate to have an indy promotion in your area, that's great.but it's a regional thing. Only the WWF is a national organization, and thus the spotlight, for good or bad, falls upon it.

I'll be honest - I was ALWAYS more of a fan of the old NWA, and then WCW. So I'm maybe a bit more critical than the average person would be.

do you guys really think it's that bad? i LOVE wrestling now. i realize how different things are now and there are things they can do a lot better... but why so critical?

Here's my general feeling as to why the product is poorer today than it has been: no competition. A few years ago, WCW was kicking Vince's ass, so he had to resort to putting out a new, exciting, edgy product, and thus "Attitude" was born (with a big indirect help from Heyman's ECW style). This led to some exciting angles, characters and matches. I think the WWF peaked in the year 2000.but as 2001 rolled around, ECW folded, and soon afterwards, Vince bought WCW. Now, there's no more competition. And so Vince has gotten lazy. Why should he bust his ass as hard as he did in years prior? There's no competition now. He's cornered the market; if you want consistent wrestling, you have him and pretty much nothing else. The product has suffered because there's no one there to challenge Vince to make a better, stronger promotion.

Now this I absolutely disagree with. The writing for the WWF, in general, is horrible. Take last night's RAW. Out of everything they could do with the Jericho / HHH angle, the best they can come up with is a fucking dog??? They had a good 2 months, from the Rumble to Mania to build up a HHH / Jericho feud, but what's the real focus of the angle? HHH vs. Steph. Last time I checked, Steph wasn't wrestling Trips on the PPV.but wait, she IS one of the head writers. Who conveniently has found a way to bump Jericho to 2nd banana in his OWN angle, and put herself in the main spot. I know you're a Jericho fan; you of all people should be outraged at just what a weak-ass champion they're making him out to be. That's just one example of poor booking / writing. There are numerous more. Just from last night - the dog skits (or shit, if you count the shit joke they used). The meeting of the board angle - stupid because not only is it out of place to do now (and split won't happen until AFTER Mania, so why plant the seeds of it here, on a show meant just to promote the PPV?), but because of bitterly illogical plot points made within (for example, Flair gets voted down by the board, in favor of Vince, when only a couple weeks ago Vince was boasting about how HE was going to destroy the company?!). Christian's nonsensical turn on DDP. Booker feuding with Edge over a shampoo commercial. This is NOT what I consider good TV. I've always been more of a fan of the actual wrestling than the skits themselves, but if you are going to spend a good chunk of programming on the storylines, at least do them well. Way I see it, the writing is not only stale and redundant, but insulting to the intellect. If it's so damn hard for this crew of writers to produce the shows every week, fire them and replace them with people who can handle it and put out a good product.

I criticize the WWF quite a bit, probably out of frustration. When I see them blow what had the potential to be the biggest storyline in history, I get frustrated. I think of how great that angle could have been and what it ended up being, and it flat out pisses me off. And heres to Jericho winning this sunday!! And Amen to you Seven, Beniot and Jericho vs the NWO!!!

If Ron and Fez can come on the radio every night and deliver 4 hours of gold 5 days a week, then I EXPECT the WWF to give me a great Raw every week.
The reason the fan criticize is because we ALL see what potential some of these bombs could have been!!
The invasion is the most obvious, but just think back over the past year at how many feudscould have been better.... how many angles could have worked better... how many pushes we did not want to see!
And The ONE thing I appreciate about all the criticism is that the WWF fans, especially the ones here, don't just bitch!!! The fans (like I said, espeially here) vocalize why they think something sucks and offer what they believe is would be better.
If you can honestly say over the past year that the WWF is delivering THE BEST possible program to the fans, then your right, we should not complain.
However, I for one think the WWF has been average at best, and that, in my opinion, gives me free reign to criticize and comment.

i see your guys points. tompoo is right that you guys definetely vocalize opinions and not just bitch. and i do agree that lack of competition has made the wwf lose a step.
but for everything the wwf makes a mistake on they do something right. having jericho with that dog a week before wrestlemania is a travesty. but having him hit HHH with a sledgehammer to the knee made it up to me. this man will lose at wresltemania but he will go out like a champion, only a real champ would do what he did on raw, and at least he's going out fighting.
and i don't agree that he is a weak ass champion. it is well known vince likes large guys and people who are loyal to his company. but he still gave jericho a run at being 1st unifed world champion ever, and he will go down in history no matter what happens next. he has beat all the top tier guys, he's showing that he can be a true main eventer, and his pants are great.
what they are doing with jericho is very similar to what they did with flair, make him a bitch champion that everyone hates but he escapes with the belt everytime. i think the only way to make this angle a real success is to have him win at wrestlemania, but alas this will not happen.
my main point of all this is try to steer you guys away from the negative a bit. maybe 80% of it makes you so angry at how badly written it is, but jericho vs. HHH at mania will be 5 star match. hogan vs. the rock seemed impossible a year ago but we will see it on sunday. flair and undertaker are true veterans that did a lot for this sport, and the match may be the finality of their careers. and i think a surpring match that people may be overlooking is RVD vs. regal. great wrestlers that will put on a fantastic match. that board meeting a week before mania was a horrible idea, but in the long run it may work. a split might be a good thing for the wwf. hopefully smackdown will showcase some sort of lightweight division and some new faces can be brought up in general (brock lesnar, sheldon benjamin, charlie hass...) and hopefully things will get fresh and new. at least a little bit

finally, i feel bad you guys get so miserable watching the WWF. while everyone on earth hates mondays, i know i at least have raw to look forward to. i appreciate wrestling on many different levels, and know that it can only get better from here. i hope all of you have a happy wrestlemania, and if you end up thinking the show sucks so be it. but i will be with my friends, i will be high and drunk, and i will be watching the showcase of the immortals enjoying every last second of it.
