View Full Version : Why I will not watch wrestling anymore

I watched every Nitro while WCW was collapsing, I didn't stop watching when the Undertaker "died" and turned into green mist and I didn't change the station when Vince Mcmahon cried over the stuffed bear.
I am ready to throw in the towel. I CANNOT watch the WWF anymore. There are a few reasons for this, I'll give you all some lesser ones first.
- Maven's monster push just so Tough Enough can have credibility.
- Way too much Billy Gunn.
- Shane Helms turned into a joke.
- The Main Eventers ABUSE the midcarders and make any chance for an "upset" virtually unrealistic.
(For example, Scott Hall's destructoin of Spike Dudley)
Now before I tell everyone what the BIGGEST gripe I have with the WWF is, let's see some things I think they've done right.
- Undertaker/David Flair segment.
- Scott Hall's character development and feud with Austin.
- DDP/Christian (The scene with Arn Anderson was hilarious)
- Letting Jericho hold belt so long.
- Angle, Booker T really excelling on the mic.
Ok, enough praise. My MAJOR gripe with the WWF is.... STEPHANIE MCMAHON. I know a bunch of you guys also feel this way, she is so damn annoying (not in a good heel way). She's a horrible actress, I have no idea position her character currently has in the company and I don't care. Her voice is annoying and her facial expressions make me want to change the station (which i find myself doing). The most annoying part of her act is that she IS ONE OF THE HEAD WRITERS in real life. SO SHE WRITES HERSELF INTO THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE SHOW. HHH is arguably the backbone of hte WWF and she's been involved with his main angles for like 3 years! Now Jericho is really coming into his own as a main eventer and she's with him. Her RETARDED promos take time away from TALENTED wrestlers, does anyone even remember what color Saturns eyes were? And where the hell is Raven!? Ok, this is way to long.. TAKE IT EASY CLARKIE!

lol i didn't realize how gay that sounded. i only say that cause his eyes are so freakin weird.
Stephanie McMahon is SO HOT. She can rant and rave and be as annoying and horrible an actress as she wants as long as she keeps wearing those revealing outfits. And face it, she is Vince's daughter and she is riding Triple H like a pony---she's not going anywhere, so you will either have to get used to her, or change the channel. Unless of course, she ends up tripping over her implants and breaks her neck, or something.

Wow, reality just hit me. The words "wrestling" and "WWF" have become synonymous (sp?).

Fuck you, WWF.
I could rant and rave for an hour or more about what an utterly abysmal piece of shit RAW was last night, how goddamn horrible the angles are, how incredibly bad the writing is, and how I really feel that if someone doesn't pull their heads out of their asses that this shit will drive the company out of business....
But I'll just use one example, the best one I think.
You have Chris Jericho. He's your champion. Hell, he's the first Undisputed WCW / WWF champion ever. You could have built his match / feud with HHH at Mania to be something that people talk about for years to come as an example of something done right. Instead, what is the focus of the angle?
A motherFUCKING dog.
You make your own world champion play second fiddle to a series of stupid skits featuring a fucking dog. Jericho is the champ, and he's 2nd in his feud compared to the rivalry between HHH and the booker he hapens to be screwing. Way to ruin the credibility of your title and your champion, if either had any cred left at this point.

If you're not down with the WWF anymore, then I got 2 words for ya....
Lucha Libre!
EMLL is possibly the best thing on television these days for those with cable. They're on Galavision from 7-10 p.m. every Tuesday night, but you may want to shut off the TV once AAA is on (unless the midgets are on, otherwise is sucks those infamous monkey balls).
Can't we all just get along?

So you mean that the fact that they show too much
Maven and Billy Gunn is making you tune out after
these ridiculous things that kept you intrigued? Cool
down and relax - it's fake and geared towards
12-year olds, it's not that important. I watch it for
the comedy of how dumb it is, and I find that from
that perspective, it's great.
And don't dog Stephanie Mcmahon! Something
about her, I dunno... I find her to be extremely ho

WOW seven, that was pretty raw. well to respond to heyyy first:
Maven kicked out taker from behind at the rumble to get KILLED and was hardcore champion for like 2 weeks. not really a "monster push"
Billy gun is a loyal worker who came back from an injury and is from the greatest tag team ever, show a little respect
scott hall destroying spike is not unrealistic, he would kill him in real life as well as he did in the ring.
i love the WWF right now, i refuse to be all the marks who wish things were the way they were, i love things now. i've adapted to the style and can even put up with the annoying skits. i agree w/ seven that jericho and the dog was bullshit, i am the biggest jericholic fan here. but what he did with the sledgehammer made up for it, and i thought raw was pretty good.
i dont' understand why everyone who continues to complain about wrestling keeps watching, you are the same as the people who call up radio shows to blast them but keep listening . i don't get it.

In response to fatty:
Maven did get a major push, "by my definition". I definitely call kicking out the ICON of your company and then taking a mercifuless beating a major push.
Billy Gunn was in the greatest tag team ever??? I really have to disagree with you there, I can name 7 tag teams off the top of my head that are 10x more entertaining then the smoking gunns :)
Scott Hall would probably kick Spike's ass in reality, but that's not what wrestling is all about. This is what Scott Hall doing that did: what if Spike wins the Tag Titles again? It's gonna make the titles a joke because one of the men holding it was proven to be a jobber.
I agree with you on everything you said about Jericho.
The reason I complain is because there's no where else to go. Believe me, I love wrestling and I don't want to stop watching. My main gripe is with Stephanie McMahon though, what are your thoughts on her?

Though this will not make me stop watching wrestling, one thing did almost make me puke last night:
The Rock over selling that goddamn Hogan leg drop :(

I totally agree about the twisted mongoloid faces. Her acting is irritatingly exaggerated. However, that's part of the reason I continue to watch. If there weren't a few characters that I wanted to bludgeon with a brick, it would be no fun. The satisfaction of wrestling is in suffering through weeks of idiotic skits and annoying characters, then when you think you can't take it anymore, the jackoff you hate the most gets the shit kicked out of him and you remember "oh yeah, that's why I watch".

i think steph is gorgeous, and i can stare at her cans and body forever.
but... she's on way too much. seven's right, building up to mania she should not be so featured in the angle with hhh and jericho. sure her added to the mix makes the match cool, but she should not be the focal point. i like that her voice is annoying, and that she screeches like that. it makes her a great heel, and she's a mcmahon so it's good. her acting varies, i wouldn't say she is that much worse than everyone else. but they should relax with her. i am hoping after all this is over she will get of t.v. for a while and we can all watch jericho again.
she could always take a break to do playboy.

Lara,
I agree with your definition of a "heel", but do you remember Daffy in WCW? Steph seems to be a toned down version of her that gets A LOT more air time. I really don't mind her character being in the mix, becasue I hate her and that's the role of a 'heel' in wrestling. I mind that she gets SO much airtime and it seems that the only reason this happens is because she's Vince's daughter and one of the head bookers.
