There, I said it. Come and get some, Beatles fans! :)

No argument here! Their ability to play blues, rock, country, soul, Motown, etc. sets them apart from any other band in terms of versatility, not to mention durability.

And Keith Richards is the living embodiment of Rock and Roll. Don't even try to question me on that!

Thanks again, Rooster!

but i feel it's more of a longevity thing now, as time goes on there have been better bands...

Like I can post anything else after that? It would just be redundant.

NO WAY!! DE BARGE KICKS THE STONES' ASS!!! ROCK ON!!! "RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT" RULES!!! YEAH!!! ...huh?...

::sounds of a struggle... sounds of carts being thrown at bald spots::

Al, get the F* out of my house, you ignorant douchebag!!

Sorry about that. I need a better fag repellent. The Stones are the all-time kings of rock & roll.

The Beatles may have had a shot if Yoko hadn't served as the Tonya Harding pipe-to-the-knee, but then I think of Wings and I figure they would have lost fair and square with too many pussy-pop deductions.

And if you had seen The Stones in their trailer at Altamont, just wasted out of their skulls, you'd have to think "if they live through the 70s they will be Gods on Earth!"
Not a sermon...just a sermon

i have to step up and say, having grown up in a home where the beatles and stones were constantly on the radio, i appreciate the beatles' music more than the stones and i think it has had a larger influence on the music of today. ok old schoolers crucify me now.....

its not time for me to go. let me wallow just this once, and drown my sorrows in this glass.---no motiv

Love the Stones, man. Side 3 of 'Love You Live' (the fabled El Macombo side) is really what it's all about. The boys got it right on that one.

Also, Exile is a classic. I pick up something new in every time I listen to it.

That said, Jagger is getting a little long in the tooth. Retire Mick. He's reminds me of Mr. Burns every time I see him.

I won't argue about who made better music, that would be like debating oer which color is the greatest color ever. However he Beatles did something the Stones can never do, quit while they were on top. There are no bad Beatles records, not even mediocre ones. The same cannot be said of the Stones (or the Who, The Kinks, Pink Floyd, or the Doors for that matter). They haven't had a great record since Tattoo You(1981), and have put out some embarassing crap since then(Steel Wheels, No security being chief among them). Even in their prime they weren't as innovative or talented as the Beatles, but they definitely had a cooler, sexier sound.

Yes, from 1968 - 1975. The chronology should read as follows:

0000 - 1967 = Andy Williams
1968 - 1975 = The Rolling Stones
1975 - 1975 = Bay City Rollers
1976 - Present = Bachman Turner Overdrive

You see, it's scientific !

I am a new Rolling stones Fan...I know....You say "how can he be a new fan?"
I was persuaded by Gvac to get some of their music...and I cannot stop listening to them!
I purchased Sitcky Fingers, Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed...and I must say...Amazing shit!
I look forward to getting a couple of other albums that were recommended to me...
I am a bass player and maybe that is why I never got any of their music...Bill Wyman is nothing special at all...
But I am becoming a huge fan...Very quickly!
What should I buy next?

Like Heckler said The Rolling Stones Are The Greatest Rock Band Of All Time and will always be! Thats what Rock and Roll is! Not the Crap thats on the radio today! They paved the way no questions asked

There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man.

The Stones released four studio albums between 1968 and 1972 - "Beggars Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers", and "Exile On Main Street." They are commonly referred to as their "Grand Slam" among Stones fans, because each album is awesome.

Sandwiched in their is the famous "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" live album, which is equally incredible.

If you don't own any of these albums, do yourself a favor and go out immediately and buy as many of them as you can. As Jersey Rich has found, you will understand why they are truly the "Greatest Rock and Roll Band " of all time.

'Nuff said.

Rich,

Try and get a copy of the first Hot Rocks album. It has all of the classic stones stuff on it. Beggars Banquet and Sticky Fingers are 2 of my favorite studio albums. Some girls and Tattoo you are also good.

Mick Taylor played some incredible music during his short time with the stones.

We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

comparing apples and
oranges... The Beatles are
legendary recording artists,
not "a rock band".
Rock music like the Stones
is sexy and visceral and
enjoyed best performed
live.

I know I am gonna start a war, but I think Aerosmith is stiff competetion for the Stones. I love the Stones, don't get me wrong. They are incredible. But I think Aerosmith doesn't get enough credit for their music. From 1973-1990, their music was incredible.

Aerosmith is a great band...But there is no way you can call them the Greatest of All Time.
I present Exile on Main Street and Let It Bleed as my two pieces of evidence.
Work at a hotel they stayed at. Uhh, I said too much.

He had a "secret" you know. Apparently with Dave Davies of The Kinks.

Keith Richards once said in an interview that the greatest band in the world is different every day. He said on any given day, it might be some bar band that's the greatest in the world...just depends on their performance.

Personally, I've never liked listening to Stones albums because I get tired of hearing that same Mick voice in every song. Of course, Keith sang "Happy," but that was a double album.
