Smackdown SHOULD have gotten bad ratings, it was an awful show this week.
This is no big surprise, really.....when the WWF does well, they basically say, "The smart fans are over-critical, but meaningless, since their numbers are small and they don't effect our ratings." Then when they do bad in the ratings, suddenly "it's all the smart fans fault!" As if bitching on the internet about a bad product is causing the entire WWF to suffer.
Let's face it - At around this time last year, Vince bought WCW. His show was pulling 5.0s and 6.0s....sometimes more. Nitro was pulling something like a 2.0.....in the year that has passed, not only did Vince NOT gain the extra 2.0 from the Nitro crowd (as the analysts predicted, the WCW crowd did NOT want anything to do with Vince), but he managed to lose a couple million viewers every week.
He can blame the folks on the internet, I blame him for putting out a product not up to par with their past efforts.
