I think the explanation is that Whistler was turned into a vampire in the last film, and in this one, he's given the vampire cure (created in the first film). After that, he helps Blade take on the Reapers.

I'm looking forward to the film. If it's non-stop martial arts action, I'll be happy enough.

i am stoked for this movie... i loved the first movie but if you remember whistler was to have blown his own head off...*in the movie* blade gives whistler his gun-blade told to walk the fuck away, next scene blade walking away-gun shot and whistler's hand falls to the floor dropping the gun....

I'm just happy to see Wesley working!! He's cool. Hated seeing him bald in the U.S.Marshalls movie. He was great in The Art Of War.

I can't wait either. Maybe whistler is one of those zombies or something, like the guy in the pit in the first movie. Anyone hear anything about who the villian will be? The guy in the first one, can't remember his name, kicked ass.

Hmm I had heard that Whistler was supposed to be the vampire in the ending of the 1st movie. I think it was one of alternate endings. But My guess would be that since Whistler was so trashed that as he was tryn to shoot himself in the head, that he passed out before being able to shoot himself. So the gun goes off as he faints, misses, then you see his hand slump to the floor.
But I am wrong alot of the time

Whistler passing out doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't Blade just go, "my bad I missed..." and shoot again?

Maybe he's like a cyborg or something. I hope not, that theory sucks too.

If I can apply any logic to this at all (and I have no idea why I've even trying to), it was that perhaps when Whistler shot himself, he either didn't do a good enough job (we've all heard of cases where people have tried to shoot themselves and it didn't finish the job) or perhaps the "change" was already too advanced and thus he became a vampire regardless of the gunshot.

I don't care if it makes sense, I just want to see lots of violence and gore.

I can't wait for this film. I enjoyed the first one. Certainly some of the best martial arts fight scenes in an American-made movie. I hope the sequel can follow up on the first, and I find the previews "get my blood pumping" (pun intended).

I was also impressed that Wesley Snipes acted, co-produced (or directed) and did much of the fight choreography. Taking what was a minor Marvel character and making it work on the big screen is a big achievement.

I can't wait to see how they explain Kris Kristoferson's return. He was a great character in the first movie, and he added humor and intensity in the first film. The explanation will probably work as well as every other "return from the dead/how did they survive" Marvel Comics has done.

Well I saw it last night and WOOOO!!!!! Fantastic fight sequences, lots of action, some of the best gore effects I've seen in a very long time. GO SEE THIS FILM

I really liked this movie. There was alot more action and the fight sequences were some of the best I have scene in a while. The Reapers were also better villians that the first Blade. Besides a scene or two that the CGI looked very fake it was an action packed movie.

Haven't seen it yet but I think I'm gonna go this afternoon. I'm surprised you guys like it, all the papers I read gave it 1 or 2 stars, then again I'm not sure they gave the first one a good rating either.

Saw it today. LOVED it. God, it's a totally fun film. The story isn't Shakespeare, but it's pretty decent, with ties to the first film. Great action and sfx, the monsters kick ass, the fight scenes kick ass (but what do you expect from Donnie Yen?), and the characters were all interesting. Totally a thumbs up experience. I'm like Ron - I want the DVD, now!

And I gotta say, I want a threeway, Anthony style, with Nissa & Verlaine.

This movie was better than the first one yet still sucked ebola-ridden anus.

Whistler DID die in the first one, and they more than inadequately explained his return...they even have the flashback when he shoots himself off-camera...YET DON'T EXPLAIN THAT HE FAKED IT, OR WINGED HIMSELF, OR EVEN HOW OR WHY THE EVIL VAMPIRES GOT INTO THE HIDEOUT AGAIN AND TOOK WHISTLER'S BODY AFTER LEAVING HIM THERE?!?

***SPOILER BELOW***

Whistler served NO purpose except to be under suspicion when the REAL enemy was the new guy...so if Whistler's not evil, now...what was the point of keeping him alive in the first place? They didn't follow Blade back to the hideout or anything, the evil guy just let them in. So this whole bring back the DEAD Whistler shit was unnecessary.

Second, Blade's fighting the main evil supervampire that was holding his chick teammember hostage...they're fighting in the room, they charge each other, they cut away to some action on the dance floor...they cut back...THEY'RE IN SOME OTHER COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ROOM ACTING AND ARE SEPERATED TO THE POINT IT LOOKS LIKE THE BAD GUY WAS HIDING.

Third, Whistler shoots a lawyer, allowing him to free Blade, who needs blood to regain his strength...so he drags him outside and endangers both their lives...THERE'S A LAWYER ON THE FLOOR RIPE FOR THE PICKING!

Oh, and our very own Gwen points out that he's vestless when he falls into the blood pool, then comes out fully vested.

Plus they had a GREAT song with that "Calling All Freaks" song playing in the background for the fight scene...and it turned out to be the worst fight scene in the movie. If you have a guy that's just going to crack people's necks and not do any stunning acrobatics, at least have him fight people that aren't in full body armor, it takes the personal touch out the whole thing.

Not to mention the NUMEROUS times where Blade COULD have killed the evil vampires but didn't for dramatic effect...remember, it WASN'T a dud?! He could've killed the guy and then just taken out the normal human easily. Oh, and where was he hiding the detonator since everything was taken from them? His ass?

And ANYONE knows that if there's a bad guy in the movie who isn't really a bad guy, then the hero and the non-evil bad guy must grin and bear it and team up against a SUPER bad guy. That's the rules of cheesy action movies, and they failed to do it.

One last thing to just go on how bad this movie is...at one point Whistler fights and takes out a vampire...WHAT?! Aren't they superdedooper?
