My birthday is this Sunday and I couldn't care less. Every year at this time I get a little depressed and start thinking about my life and then I get even more depressed.

I haven't celebrated my birthday since I was 13. That was the last year I had any kind of party or received a gift for my birthday. Now the closest thing I have to a tradition is pretty much just a phone call from my grandmother where she takes 20 seconds to wish me a happy birthday and an hour to tell me everything that is wrong with me and how the entire world is against her and waiting for her to die.

It's always funny to me when an under-ager is counting down to a Mile Stone birthday. First it's their 18th, then when nothing spectacular happens it's their 21st. Then after that their just another person with nothing else to look forward to.

So all of my rambling is leading to this question: Do you still celebrate your birthday and if so what do you do? And if you don't, when did you stop?

Feel free to laugh, it was meant to be funny (but it's 100% true)

Just wit until I finish my autobiography "Just Another Guy". Most of you wouldn't believe everything that has gone on in my life...

a birthday is a chance to realize where you are and think about where you are going...as for your grandmother we all wait to die and it is sad...milestones are what you make of them... and we all celebrate our birthday, in the same way you are, by contemplating it too much.

Hosp..didn't you do anything for your 21st? No bar party or drunken celebration??

Since my b-day is on the fourth of July, its kinda hard not to celebrate it, but after you turn 21, its all down hill from there....I sometimes forget how old I am now...

Gina, I've been going to Atlantic City and gambling since I was 16 (I never got carded either). And when ever my birthday falls on a weekend I go to AC just so I can get away from everyone. That's what happened on my 21st birthday and that's what I'm doing this sunday.

The 21st is the last one. Even though you're legally liable for your actions on your 18th, the truth is after 21 you can no BLAME anyone for anything. It's on you...that is all

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! i gave up on birthdays when i was 16 and my parents forgot that it was my birthday. about your grndmother, you're lucky. i talk to mine atleast once a week and all she can do is complain aout her life and that she is waiting to die and that her children (my father and his siblings) don't call her or stop by. its enought to make me want to scream. try not to get so down on yourself especially at your birthday. if i had known your birthday was comming up, i would have brought you a card on saturday.

i love birthdays. every year i go all out for them. there's not too much to celebrate for these days, but i'll never stop getting wasted for me getting born.

i know a lot of people don't care but i'm 23 and i still party my nuts off. i can't wait till my birthday.

zathrus, I never said I don't talk to her the rest of the year, it's just every year, before 10 in the morning she'll call and ruin my day. She still holds a grudge that my mother never converted to being a jew and that once my parents got divorced my mother raised us catholic. I think after 32 years it's kind of time to let it go.

And thank you for the happy birthday, but save it for Ron Fez Mark's thread.

Only the inaugral one really counts. The rest of them is a conspiracy between Hallmark and Tom Carvel.

Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

Hosp

Funny you mention Carvel because the last cake I had for my birthday was the Cookie O'Puss they put out for St. Patty's day. I loved that pistachio ice crem nose.

COOKIE PUSS... heheheheh...

I had that for my 10th birthday! Bringing back the memories!

Birthdays have lost meaning to me. Another reason to remind you that you are a year older... and I'm only 20. Ahh UGH!

When you're a baby, birthdays are celebrated after the first week, first month, first 6 months.

Birthdays stop having meaning when you are no longer cute.

I'm looking down your blouse right now and you don't even know it.

I agree that I think 21 is like the last one that has any meaning...although I think for some people 25 is a big one too...I had a surprise b'day party thrown for me last year. And I have been to other 25 parties too...I think it all depends
